Mobile Operating Systems: Linux on the rise, threatening Android

Although Android is very popular, but it seems that we are entering a period of Linux is everywhere in the mobile world in which there are many alternatives Android.
Mobile market seems to be good ground for Linux, as the Android - an operating system based mobile Linux platform - are very successful, and few can predict this a few years ago.

In fact, recently, Android is Linux's main rival in the mobile sector. There were some operating systems (OS) for mobile "come and go" like LiMo, Maemo, Moblin and MeeGo, but none of any of these operating systems can be compared with Android on the appeal.

This is why MWC 2012 becomes very noticeable. The product showcases, at MWC, showing that despite the efforts of the upcoming Linux operating system on the mobile segments can be overwhelming or overshadowed Android.

It is undeniable that Android is still growing strong, even stronger than ever possible before. But it seems that we are entering a time when Linux is everywhere in the mobile world in which there are many alternatives for Android.

Here are 3 examples of the Linux operating system on smart phone (smartphone):

Boot to Gecko

Perhaps most notable is Mozilla - Firefox developers - this week announced the open web platform devices (Devices Open Web platform) for smart phones (smartphones) Boot to the project based on Gecko (B2G).
With B2G, Mozilla wants aims to build an operating system independent and complete for the open web platform, in which Linux is a major factor. With support from the likes of Telefonica, Adobe, Deutsche Telekom and Qualcomm, the open web platform device promises to bring a new face to Linux in the mobile segment.

Tizen

At MWC 2012, appeared Tizen platform with many improvements. Tizen known as an open source project with the backing of Intel, launched by the Linux Foundation from 9/2011. Tizen also received attention from Samsung; and last week, the phone manufacturer Huawei of China has introduced a beta version of Tizen platform and toolkit software development kit (SDK) for its platform this.

New features on the beta version of Tizen will update the user interface and programming interface web application to help the development of web applications easier. Tizen Association said the features of the SDK also includes support for both Windows and Ubuntu Linux. Meanwhile, Huawei said the company plans to manufacture and commercialize the use of handheld platform Tizen.

Android on Ubuntu

Speaking of Ubuntu Linux operating system, do not forget about the recently announced it can run in parallel with the upcoming Android smartphones. The user will be quite like the experience desktop smartphone with a mounting bracket (dock) connected to the keyboard and screen. Ubuntu for Android will be pre-installed with Google's platform on the second phone to use both operating systems.

WebOS-based operating system Linux has also shown innovation with a brand new browser earlier this month. There will be no entirely webOS is open source until September / 2012, but it is also a "power" deserves to eye. According to data from Net Applications 1/2012, Apple's IOS operating system currently accounts for 54% market share in mobile operating system / computer table, while Android is 18%. It's hard to predict how the situation will be after 1 or 2 years.
