When the first Asus EeePC netbook concept defined in 2007, many people were skeptical about what computers can do little.
Go now, even through many ups and downs but Asus keeps releasing better computer models are fairly cheap price. The latest product of which is the X101H - continues to bring more opportunity to own a computer to hand everyone, especially students, and students.
Asus EeePC X101H is basically a version of the X101, with the traditional specifications of a netbook, but added a Linux OS called MeeGo.
Design
The first thing we noticed is that the machine can be quite small and cute. Also X101H also quite slim with a thickness of only 22 mm. But if you want a thinner again, or try to look at the X101 with a thickness of 17.6 mm by VGA and LAN port omitted. Back to X101H, may have a plastic outer shell offers rustic feel good situation but it's hard to clean, especially for the white version. Plastic materials can be found in the spleen and hands around the keyboard. Dimensions of the machine is 262 x 180 x 22 mm and weighing approximately 1 Kg.
Above the screen, you'll find a 0.3 MPx webcam for video calling. Left side of the machine include the VGA port, charging port, USB 2.0, slot radiator and SD memory card slot. Kensington lock next to the remaining ports, Ethernet, USB 2.0 and 3.5 mm audio output. There is no HDMI port on this product to reduce cost. Keyboard design like most other forms EeePC, in the form chiclet. With a netbook you can not expect to get the key full-sized one that'll be frustrating for those fingers to. Besides designing the right Shift key should be slightly smaller to avoid press attention mistaken. Mouse of the machine is not quite over and take a lot of force required to press the button.
Performance
The unit is supplied with VXL N455 - not the kind of new compared to other netbooks out there. It's not a bad thing for a new machine recently, you can still watch HD 720p video on Youtube or Facebook gaming in your browser. Despite the switch between the windows and the application has not been smooth and low-resolution screen (1024 x 600) will force you to scroll up and down several times to see the full content display.Supplied battery is a 3 cell with 2600 mAh capacity - a modest figure. If used for web surfing and typing documents, computers are about 3 hours.
With RAM, the upgrade can be done more easily by removing the screws on the back of the machine and 2 GB of RAM instead of on - this is the maximum amount of support the Atom N455. Upgrading the hard drive when it is harder to open the entire cabinet, unlike X101 SSD easier access.
Software
Probably worth mentioning here is that MeeGo - operating system that you can find on the Nokia N9 going to be sold here. This is the main reason for the price of this netbook easily accessible to the mass market. Time to boot the machine into the home screen of MeeGo is extremely impressive - only about 15 seconds. Here you'll see a menu bar with the tab or the like MyZone, Status (social networking), Internet (browser), People (instant messaging), Media (music and video), Application and Devices (set settings for computer and file management). The bar disappears after a few seconds and you can drag them down by moving the mouse to close the top. It seems that the creators of MeeGo has decided to take social networking to the center of attention of the user. This is reflected by the information from Facebook or Twitter appears on the home screen without having to visit a particular site.
On the left is where the home screen for your favorite applications, calendar display or the history of multimedia files to play recently. To switch between applications, you need to use Alt + Tab key combination or click the tab Zone (2) to select the running application you need. Internet Tab including favorite sites accessed through the Chromium browser. Application Tab is where applications like OpenOffice preinstalled (instead of Microsoft Office). You can access the Asus Appstore app store - quite similar to Intel AppUp to store additional applications for the machine. Currently the number and types of applications but do not expect much progress in the future. Support for multimedia is not good when the machine does not support MP4 files to AVI or both - if you want to watch video you need to switch OGV format.
MeeGo overall, there is something quite fun and style of the animation. The large icons, simple can not fit everyone, but easy access to features and content. Because based on Linux, mounting external USB devices may experience some difficulties. May work with simple devices like mice, USB and USB external hard drive, but 3G is not so.
MeeGo seems to depend very much on cloud computing technology and a lot of features based on active internet connection. Asus is targeting a device that people who regularly surf the net and access to social networks - the main object of the netbook. If you do not like MeeGo, select Ubuntu, and Windows 7 for X101H.
Conclusion
Asus EeePC netbook X101H is designed to meet the basic needs for those who like simplicity. A lightweight netbook to carry them anywhere, surfing the net and update social networks. With approximately 4.8 million price you will get a netbook from a trusted brand and can be replaced by Windows 7 MeeGo to work better.
