Sony and Microsoft are working to respond to the Nintendo Wii U introduced in this year's E3. There have been rumors about Microsoft will introduce the next Xbox at E3 next year, and now the news about Sony will produce a large number of the next version of PlayStation.
According to DigiTimes, PlayStation 4 will begin production late in 2011. Perhaps the Foxconn and Pegatron will participate in the production PS4 (the two firms involved in manufacturing has also PS3). If everything is happening according to plan, Sony will release the PS4 in 2012 and sold "at least" is 20 million units next year.
Sony announced the PS3 will still be supported for at least 10 years, but there is no reason that Sony does not release sales while PS3 PS4. Before the PS3, the PS2 still appear to be selling briskly, as of 01/31/2011 PS2 sold 150 million units, compared with more than 100 million of 29/11/2005.
"We have produced devices that are very strong and full of features. PS3 will sell at least 10 years. Even now PS2 has sold millions of copies worldwide despite the advent 11 years ". President Andrew House of SCE Europe told CVG last month when E3 ends.

Meanwhile, the chairman and CEO Jack Tretton said that Sony of SCE America not threatened by the Nintendo Wii U "PlayStation 3 truly was perfect. And technically, I do not think anyone can pass than we do. And the competition is doing is trying to add the features already in the PlayStation 3 on their products. "
Tretton continued: "We have invested heavily on PlayStation 3, and it will be a hit very soon. So I have nothing to talk about the next generation PlayStation." Sony want to surprise or really PS4 to five years to appear?
