NPD: 33% of smartphones sold in the U.S. in Q4/2011 4G connectivity

The demand for phones that support 4G network connection started to rise last year, and particularly intense in Q4/2011. According to the NPD, 33% of U.S. smartphone sales in the last quarter of last year with 4G.
 
4G networks are composed of HSPA +, WiMAX and LTE. This is an incredible growth in Q4/2010 when, only 6% of phones sold have 4G connectivity.
 
The number of smartphones sold in the U.S. 4G network support using HSPA + technology accounted for 22% in Q4/2011. That's when AT & T has not developed LTE 4G network, like T-Mobile only offers HSPA + 4G services. Number of users 4G HSPA + is also growing rapidly thanks to AT & T, iPhone 4S product distribution.
 
Services of Verizon LTE 4G network accounted for 7% market share in Q1/2012. According to NPD, 26% of buyers LTE phone is aimed at using the services of this network, up 17% over the same period last year.
Ross Rubin, an expert analysis of 4G NDP noted that HSPA + is a perfect choice for the operators to upgrade their GSM network. According to Rubin, HSPA + technology have the ring boundary between the U.S. network, by the largest carriers were snapping at its 4G LTE network development.
 
After peaking at 11% market share of U.S. smartphone market in Q3/2011, 4G WiMAX network ended 2011 with 6% market share.

Last year, Apple iPhone 4S is the most popular phone when connected to the network to HSPA + and 4G HTC Thunderbolt smartphone is similar to the first choice for 4G LTE connection.
