Coming common platform for applications on Smart TV

LG, Philips and Sharp have agreed to work together to identify the common technical requirements for their smart TV, based on open standards like HTML5, CE-HTML and HbbTV.

The initiative aims to simplify application development and provides industry intelligence television. Currently, application developers spend more time and effort to test their applications on different platforms. By simplifying this step, the developers will be able to spend more time creating applications such as video, require the service of music, games and social networking services.
 
"This partnership is a landmark in the history of smart TV" - Mr. Havis Kwon, chairman and CEO of LG Electronics said. "By working with TV manufacturers, we made a big step towards creating a market for application as a smart phone."
LG, Philips and Sharp will offer the intelligent TV manufacturers and application developers to contribute ideas and initiatives to simplify the development process while improving the user experience. Expected, the beta of the SDK will be released in early October.
